Action 52!

Huzzah, another vertical shooter in the mix! Atmos Quake has you piloting your Star Trek triangle thingy through space that’s become polluted somehow with multi-colored garbage and gameplay that makes you want to call bullshit.

Atmos Quake takes its queue from every other shooter in the Action 52 – meaning enemies are no threat and the garbage and shitty hit detection are your worst enemies. Even when you think you’ve got a handle on all of the action, especially since this is the only shooting game here with a decent fire rate, you’ll be a full block away from an obstacle and still somehow get killed. Flicker is rampant and all of the enemy ships seem to have U2’s “The Edge” painted on their backs…

I wish I could say how many levels are in the game, but the long arm of the Action 52 knows no hiding places. Level five is impossible to beat as your ship will explode from invisible barriers surrounding the start point. The gameplay vid is a testament to this.
