Touchdown TravestyMaking its way around the internet for the past couple of weeks is DuLuDuBi Star, a platformer for the PC from Chinese developer FANGTE. You may notice from the gameplay vid that FANGTE doesn't seem to realize the difference between an homage and outright thievery, in this case, the victim is Super Mario Galaxy. You'll notice about twenty things wrong about ten seconds into this video from 1-up (after the stupid sponsor ad...sigh).

Good ol' China. Is anything safe from your creativity? After all, you successfully ripped off Disneyland by claiming your mice are nothing but large-eared cats. Did I mention you can also buy plushies of the game's main character on their website. I smell an awesome contest prize!

Now I can smell an opportunity like a dog can smell snausages. I've commsissioned my brother, who runs Blue Pumpkin Studios, to draw up some concept images and proposals for new games for China to release. Selling these hot new characters will fulfill our dream of retiring to Bejing so that we may command an enormous merchandising empire. Our cheap trinkets will fill carnivals and skill cranes worldwide while we relax in bean bags filled with gil. Speaking of gil, check out some of our current projects:

C-Loud all up in your area.

Now this is a TRU No Limit SOLDIER! Meet C-Loud, named for his endless supply of C-notes. A true hustler with a mysterious past, C-Loud keeps it real on the streets with his no nonsense attitude and his gigantic fucking sword, which is what people use in the not-so distant future. Along with blue jumpsuits and shoulder armor. Everyone wears those too. Ridin' with his crew from SNOW (not to be confused with Canadian-born Jamaican Snow), he's hustlin' materia from Midgar to the center of the world. If those were real places that is.

Tarkos McFadden: champion of Inkstack!

Oh nonononono, this isn't you-know-whom. This is Tarkos McFadden, champion of Inkstack, Scotland! Of course this is obvious given his stylish kilt and family crest, not to mention his authentic Inkstack axery. Yes, axery is a real word in Scotland too.

Nameless assassin with lazer racket...and THAT'S ALL.

This assassin-for-hire has let himself go a bit, but that still makes him twice the badass of anyone else! When he's not watching cheap anime purchased on a street corner, he's slicing fools up with his laser-mesh tennis racket only to have some awkward confrontation with an attractive woman afterwards. But you can't blame him for it, and for that, he remains lovable and endearing regardless. Even though he's got an unhealthy addiction to corn nuts, polish sausage, and thinks ranch dressing is a beverage. You can smell him from fifty yards away, but that goes without saying.

Again, huge thanks to Brien Hicks, owner of Blue Pumpkin Studios for the sketches he worked so hard to provide for this little blog!
