NOT HAPPY AT ALL

While everyone on the internet continues to look back at the past, we here at Gamescrap look to the futchaaaah! It’s the Gaming trends that don’t belong in 2010. It’s a title. A title that rhymes. We all have those pet peeves of ours – you know, those things that get under your skin. Anyone who has been into gaming for an extended period of time will remember cursing WWII shooters or any platformer that came out on the N64 after Mario, DK, and Ratchet and Clank. And who can forget the awesome solar flare trend of 2000 or the water effects trend of 2001? Well, a lot of people can because they learn how to let things go. For people who can’t, like myself, there are articles like this. Here is my heartfelt plea to the industry of things to just fucking stop doing in 2010 in no particular order:

...and the adventure begins agaaaaain!

I survived PAX weekend swine flu free (so far!), and what a ride it was. It always seems to take a week to get these write ups posted though - like I need five days to recover or something. With this being my third year at the show, this is my first time not doing coverage for some sort of conventional gaming site that does serious reviews. With this being gamescrap, I didn't have a plan. I just wanted to capture the show and try to find something awful. That didn't work out too well right away, but I came out with four copies of Hello Kitty Online, one of which went to theJuice, so something good has to come out of that right? Now that you've read everyone else's opinion of the weekend, allow me to add mine onto the nearly toppled dog pile!

Gamescraps PAX 2009 Hardware Rodeo!

When it comes to a gathering of gaming culture, you can't just focus on the software. PAX is a great example of what the future holds as far as hardware is concerned. During the weekend I saw everything from liquid cooled cases that look like something that a mad scientist would have in his lab to high end video cards supporting full 3D. Sure, those things are cool and all, but I'm more interested in things less conventional. I want an experience that I haven't had, or may never have. That brings us to Gunnar Optiks eyewear and the Peregrine gaming glove. They're both gaming accessories that are sure to get a reacion out of any conventional gamer, and yeah you may even look pretty cool using them. But are they practical? Well, read on to find out ya jerk!

When you get a bunch of gamers in a room, you're bound to come across some sort of crazy hair - be it body, head, or billowing neckbeard. Previous years have been a sort of safari for me. Getting pictures of weird mustaches or unkempt manes...it's almost captivating. I've never posted them so nobody gets the idea that I'm knocking gamers...I'm not. What I will knock are styles that would make any normal conformist say "WTF, yo?". So here you are, a small gathering of images for the Gamescrap Hairlympics©®™.

From the weird, to the odd, to the utterly surreal; Cosplay at PAX is 1/4 the fun. You'll get everything from guys dressed as zombies, dudes in drag, or the truely devoted that start their next costumes the day after PAX ends. It's all here...for better or worse. Furries need not apply.
